To celebrate International Year of light we partnered with St Patricks festival and NUI college Galway to light up Dublin's iconic 120m tall monument "the spire"
An urban intervention visible throughout the city brought animation to the city from up close and afar. The installation consisted of Super Sharpy beam lights from Clay Paky to light up the monument and the surrounding air.
Artists Matt Cregan and Mick Murray programmed a 5 minute animation of the light to Riverdance tune "Reel Around the Sun"
We wanted to connect with the local people and visiting St Patricks Festival tourists in a familiar way.
The Artists also added a circular 500mm high ring of led screen around the spire which played back visual content when the piece activated every 15 minutes.

In between the performances the screen showed live tweets from people worldwide sending St Patricks day greetings from all over the world to their families in Dublin and around Ireland.

This intervention with the spire went on to the Artist being invited back in December 2015 to covert the spire into a giant Lightsabre for the launch of Star Wars film "the force Awakens"
Dublin's iconic "monument of light" the Spire was later converted by Matt and Mick into a giant Lightsabre for the launch of a Star Wars Film.
