When Disney saw out installation at the spire they got in contact to see if we could do it again but in the shape the world's largest lightsaber. Artists Matt and Mick were Brough on board by Tom Rohan of Eventco to once again bring Dublin's spire to life. The guys used 16 x supers harpy in a custom "lightsaber" handle shaped enclosure which fit all round the spire. The top had a polycarbonate roof and the fixtures were housed inside on a shelf. Matt and Mick used cctv cameras inside to keep an eye in the installation troughout the activation. Mick used a T-1 dongle from Avolites to control the lightsaber from Slovenia. The start up and shut down was automated but we could still reset a lamp if needed and had complete control using teamviewer.
Furthermore we had a cctv camera per two fixtures as well as one on the distro and door of the enclosure.
The Giant lightsabre was a massive P.R. success for Star Wars getting massive international press coverage including TIME magazine in the USA.
